🌿 Nature Nurture in Practice

A 24-week practitioner training and coaching programme

Supporting children with additional support needs requires more than strategies. It calls for connection, understanding, and the confidence to respond in the moment with care, clarity, and purpose.

Nature Nurture in Practice is a 24-week live online training and coaching programme designed for practitioners who want to develop the skills, insight, and confidence to deliver targeted, nature-based interventions for children experiencing social, emotional, and developmental challenges.

Rooted in the Nature Nurture Approach—where nature + nurture + play = resilience—this programme offers a powerful blend of theory, practical application, and reflective practice.

🌱 What the Nature Nurture in Practice programme offers

This is not a one-off course or a passive learning experience. It is a supported professional journey, designed to help you translate learning into meaningful, lasting change in your day-to-day practice.

Over 24 weeks, you will take part in:

  • Weekly live online sessions (1 hour) via Microsoft Teams
    Each session includes:
  • 30 minutes of focused training input
  • 30 minutes of facilitated group coaching and reflection
  • Six structured modules, each lasting four weeks, guiding you step-by-step through the principles and practice of targeted Nature Nurture intervention
  • A dedicated Reflect and Review session at the end of each module, allowing you to consolidate learning, reflect on impact, and plan next steps
  • Access to a password-protected online learning hub, containing all course materials, resources, and guidance to support your learning between sessions

🌳 What you will learn

Throughout the programme, you will deepen your understanding of:

  • Child development and the impact of stress, trauma, and unmet need
  • Attachment, attunement, and co-regulation in practice
  • The role of nature and outdoor environments in supporting wellbeing and engagement
  • How to design and deliver targeted interventions using play and relational approaches
  • Observing, assessing, and responding to children’s needs across the Seven Areas of Resilience
  • Supporting emotional regulation, social development, and engagement through outdoor experiences
  • Reflective practice and professional confidence in complex situations

🌿 Who this programme is for

This programme is designed for practitioners who are already working with children and young people, including:

  • Teachers and additional support for learning staff
  • Early years practitioners
  • Forest school leaders and outdoor educators
  • Playworkers and third sector practitioners
  • Support staff working with children with additional support needs

Participants should have at least three years’ experience working with children and a commitment to reflective, relationship-based practice.

🌼 A supportive learning community

A key strength of this programme is the opportunity to learn alongside others. Through weekly coaching conversations, shared reflections, and collaborative discussion, you will become part of a small, supportive cohort of practitioners who are equally committed to developing their practice.

This creates a space where you can:

  • Bring real challenges from your work
  • Reflect openly and safely
  • Learn from others’ experiences
  • Build confidence in your professional judgement

🌟 The impact of Nature Nurture in Practice

By the end of the programme, you will feel more confident in your ability to:

  • Understand and respond to children’s needs in a trauma-informed, relational way
  • Use outdoor environments intentionally to support wellbeing and development
  • Plan and deliver targeted interventions that make a meaningful difference
  • Reflect on and adapt your practice with clarity and purpose

Most importantly, you will be better equipped to support children to feel safe, regulated, connected, and ready to learn.

Nature Nurture in Practice is an invitation to slow down, look more closely, and work in a way that honours both the child and the practitioner.

If you are ready to deepen your practice and make a lasting difference, we would love you to join us. 🌿
